Day 8

Well what a night that was, first of all the Motel we staying in turned out not to be quite a good as we were expecting, when we checked in we asked for a quiet room and was told that every room was quiet because we were the only guests staying so we thought great a good nights sleep. So we checked in and got ready to go across the road (literally) to the so called restaurant, it was connected to the gas station and looked more like a cafe but it was the only choice, it was not too bad the place had a smell of a mechanics garage not nice, and the food was very average Lorna had to back here pork chops and settle for a burger. After our meal we headed back to the motel, caught up on some emails and watched a movie and settled down for a quiet night. At 11:45 we were both fast asleep when we were awoken by a loud noise that can only be described as a ships horn, it was coming from the room next door, in their ultimate wisdom the dumb arse on the front desk had checked a family with 2 kids into the room next door and they were all having showers and watching the TV with the kids screaming, the fog horn sound was the plumbing. Seriously in a motel with 40 odd rooms having requested for a quiet room why put a late arrival family into the room next door. I went ballistic (Steve) and stormed off to the reception where a young guy with tons of attitude made plenty of excuses why he had put them next to us, I was so close to loosing it big time but stormed off back to the room, but the noise had calmed down, I think the family heard me shouting at the dumb arse on the desk and decided to turn the TV off and go to bed, but they got back up at 6:30am this morning. So not a happy bunch as we left the motel, it got worse as well because we went to Canada’s longest Zip Line and suspension bridge attraction only to find out that the advertised price of $20 was only for the bridge and they wanted a further $60 each for the zip ride, this would have been OK but they could not tell me if I could use my little GoProHD camera on the helmet so they called the guy on the walkie talky who turned up and said we could not, despite us telling them that there we about 40 videos on YouTube of clients videos whilst on the ride, they stuck to their guns and said no, so we said no as well and walked away, Lorna asked for the code to use the WC outside and was told that if the lady did not give you the code then I was not going to give it to you either. So we gave them the bird and drove off.

So far we have to say the attitude of the Canadians in work have been nothing like the Americans, The Canadian people that we have met en-route have been lovely and really helpful but, its juts like they cant be bothered to help out and just do the very basic for us. We are really hoping that things will pick up soon. We turned up to Thunder Bay and checked into a nice new clean Days Inn with guest laundry services, so lorna will be happy she can play at being a domestic wife, something she has missed i think. A quick look around town did not impress us, it was raining but it looks very bleak, we will see what it looks like tomorrow.
